The seminary building The Lutheran Theological Seminary in Novosibirsk is a school open to anyone who suits the admission requirements, having a goal of preparing ministers for Lutheran Russian speaking churches. The only Lutheran school of this type in the Asian part of Russia, the Seminary does not limit its area of activity to any specific region, although on other equal conditions, a preference is given to students from Siberia and the Far East.

The Seminary belongs to the Western Siberian Christian Mission (WSCM), being functionally its educational department. The training began in 1997. The Seminary program takes four years. The courses are offered at the present stage by Lutheran professors from the U.S.A. and Canada. Translation of lectures and seminars into Russian is carried out by staff translators who also translate tests and course works of students. At the present time, Professor Alan Ludwig works in Novosibirsk on a constant basis, teaching students exegetical and dogmatic courses. The courses of other teachers (mainly Doctors of Theology, major scholars in their areas) take from two or three weeks to ten weeks, depending on the time of stay of every instructor in Novosibirsk. The first staff Russian instructor will be prepared for Novosibirsk seminary by the year 2002. Alan.JPG (7521 bytes)
